Who is this Maryland congressman winking at?

Maryland congressman winks a cheeky hello to mom

Obscure policy discussions didn't deter a congressman from having a little bit of fun on the House floor Tuesday.

In a video from the lower chamber spreading on social networks, Rep. Andy Harris, R-Maryland, surreptitiously interrupted regularly scheduled political programming to say hello to his number one fan.

While Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Georgia, took to the House floor to throw his support in for a TSA worker ID credential program, Harris maneuvered his way across the aisle and plunked himself down behind his colleague. The cameras continued to roll as Harris gave surreptitious wink to viewers.

The show, it turned out, was all for the lawmaker's mother, National Journal reported.

"His mother watches C-SPAN and it makes her day to see him," staffer Chris Meekins explained to the news outlet.

Carter continued to voice his support on the transportation bill, but the wonky speech didn't deter Harris from further chicanery.

Before he snuck off camera, Harris played to the audience once more.

The Republican lawmaker looked down at his phone for a few moments, appearing to communicate with someone off-screen, and then took his glasses off.

A raised eyebrow and a smile suggested Harris' mom must have been watching.
