West Virginia state Senate planning impeachment trials for Supreme Court justices
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — It's the West Virginia Senate's turn to address the impeachment of three state Supreme Court justices in a spending scandal.
The Senate is set to meet Monday to work on rules for the trials of Chief Justice Margaret Workman, suspended Justice Allen Loughry and Justice Beth Walker.
The House of Delegates last Monday approved impeachment articles against the three along with Justice Robin Davis. Davis announced her retirement the following day.
Justice Menis Ketchum retired last month. He's agreed to plead guilty in federal court to a charge related to vehicle and fuel use.
Loughry was suspended over allegations he repeatedly lied about using his office for personal gain. He also has been indicted on 25 federal charges, including a "scheme to defraud the state of West Virginia and others."
