W.Va officer accused of sex with woman facing jail time

FARMINGTON, W.Va. -- A West Virginia police officer has been charged with bribery after allegedly having sex with a woman seeking to avoid a traffic citation.

News outlets report that Marcus David Slauer of Fairmont was charged with one felony count of bribery Friday.

A criminal complaint says Slauer, 27, pulled over a woman for speeding on April 22 and due to prior sentencing in South Carolina, the woman faced one to five years in jail if she violated any laws.

The two drove to the Farmington Police Department, where they allegedly engaged in oral sex and sexual intercourse.

Slauer was also a deputy with the Marion County Sheriff's Department for two years, officials told CBS affiliate WOWK, but he was on duty with the Farmington police department. He was put on leave after sheriff's department officials found out about the incident.

He has since resigned from both departments. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.
