DC mayor orders review in case of Relisha Rudd, 8

WASHINGTON - D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray says he's directed two deputy mayors to conduct a review of the case of missing 8-year-old Relisha Rudd , and make recommendations about any needed reforms.

The mayor said in a statement Tuesday that there is no indication that government agencies or staff failed in the case of the girl who has been missing since March 1. It was Relisha's many absences from school that ultimately led authorities to go looking for her.

The girl was last seen with a janitor who worked at the city homeless shelter where she was living with her family. The janitor, Kahlil Tatum, was later found dead of apparent suicide during the search for Relisha. Tatum is also suspected of killing his wife.

Gray also said he wants to move as many families from the shelter as quickly as possible.

Last week, authorities released video of a man wanted for questioning in connection with Relisha's disappearance. Police said Wednesday they identified and interviewed the man but uncovered no new information, reports CBS D.C.
