Want to join Mark Zuckerberg's book club?

It's Oprah's Book Club for a new generation.

Mark Zuckerberg crowdsourced his New Year's resolution (on Facebook, of course) Dec 30. He got 50,000 suggestions and came up with this: "My challenge for 2015 is to read a new book every other week -- with an emphasis on learning about different cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies."

Shortly after posting his resolution to his personal Facebook page Friday night, Zuckerberg set up a new page, a Facebook community called A Year of Books, where he invited all those who want to read along with him to participate in group discussions of the bi-weekly picks.

Then he announced his first book, Moises Naim's "The End of Power: From Boardrooms to Battlefields and Churches to States, Why Being in Charge Isn't What It Used to Be."

The 320-page treatise opens like this: "This is a book about power. Specifically it is about how power -- the capacity to get others to do, or to stop doing, something -- is undergoing a historic and world-changing transformation."

Zuckerberg should know. By midday Monday, his book club page had received nearly 150,000 likes. Of course it will remain to be seen for a fortnight how many of those upward facing thumbs will be used to actually turn the pages of Naim's March 2014 release.

One thing's for sure. If you want to buy a copy of the book, you'll want to look somewhere other than Amazon, which Business Insider pointed out is temporarily of out of stock of the title.

You can still buy an ebook or audiobook, or head to a different website. You could also try an actual brick and mortar bookstore, just for the fun of it.
