Police seek suspect in fatal shooting at Colorado Walmart

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Police in Colorado are searching for a 34-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in a Walmart parking lot.

Longmont police told the Longmont Times-Call on Sunday that Joseph Keith Anderson is wanted on charges of second-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Further details including Anderson's alleged motive were not disclosed.

A warrant has been issued for Anderson's arrest. Police said he is believed to be armed, CBS Denver reports.

Authorities received a report on the shooting at about 3 a.m. Sunday. The 23-year-old victim died after being transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, according to a police statement. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Anderson was last seen driving a black Nissan Murano with a white or tan top and Colorado license plate DBQ 998.

Mike Doody told the Longmont Times-Call he was asleep inside his RV in the parking lot when he thought he heard three gunshots. "I heard some yelling, too," he said. "But I didn't think anything of it."

If Sunday's shooting death is ruled a homicide, it would be Longmont's first of 2017, the newpaper writes.
