Voices Against Violence: Slain reporter's father speaks out

In the current epidemic of shootings, the country is looking for solutions, and CBS News is listening to both sided for ideas on how to end the violence. In the series "Voices Against Violence," CBS News is asking people to share their views on gun violence.

In this third video of the "Voices Against Violence" series, Andy Parker -- father of slain CBS affiliate WDBJ reporter Allison Parker who was shot along with videographer Adam Ward by a lone gunman while they reported the news -- speaks out.

In an earlier CBS report, Parker said that he would make it his mission to change gun laws.

"The first thing I would do would be to impress upon the people who are pro-gun that we're not trying to take their guns away. We're not trying to repeal the second amendment, we can't do that," Parker said.

In the last installment of "Voices Against Violence," former Congressman Patrick Kennedy -- who lost two of his uncles to gun violence -- spoke about mental illness and its link to gun violence.

In the first video in the series, CBS News spoke with Calvin Butts, a pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York City, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and Dr. Kelly Posner the founder of the Suicide Center at Columbia University.
