Vincent D'Onofrio signs on as villain for Netflix's "Daredevil"

Marvel has found a foe for its upcoming Netflix series "Daredevil."

Vincent D'Onofrio ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Men in Black") has been cast as the villain Wilson Fisk, it was announced Tuesday.

Fisk is a powerful businessman whose interests bring him into conflict with blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego, Daredevil. Those familiar with Marvel lore will know Fisk also goes by "The Kingpin."

In the 2003 film version of "Daredevil," Fisk was played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan.

"We're incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining 'Marvel's Daredevil' in such an integral role," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television. "Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero."

D'Onofrio joins Charlie Cox ("Boardwalk Empire"), who will take on the role of Murdock/Daredevil.

The 13-episode series -- one of four originals Marvel is developing for Netflix -- is set to begin streaming in 2015. It will become the third series Marvel has on the air, following in the footsteps of ABC's "Agents of SHIELD" and the upcoming "Captain America" spin-off, "Agent Carter."
