Video posted to Facebook appears to show child beating dog

STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- A disturbing video posted to Facebook appears to show a child beating a dog, reports CBS DFW.

A Stephenville, Texas woman, who did not want to be identified, told the station that she recorded the incident after a boy and his sister began to hit a neighbor's dog. Police are now involved.

"My thoughts were: That poor child has to have been through hell to be able to do that to an animal," she told CBS DFW. "He didn't just naturally do that, he had to learn it from somewhere."

Police say that because he is under 10 years old, he will not face charges -- even though what he did was technically animal cruelty. They also say the parents will not be charged, because they didn't realize what was happening.

The woman who posted the video told the station that police have asked that she remove it from the social media site. However, she says she won't until the dog is somewhere safe, and the boy receives counseling.
