Video catches bird striking windshield of personal plane in Florida

WATCH: Bird strikes windshield of plane in Florida

It was like an explosion.

At 170 miles per hour, a bird smashed into Rob Weber’s plane as he was on his way into Page Field near Fort Myers, Florida, reports local CBS affiliate WINK-TV.

A camera captured the moment when what appears to be a hawk exploded into a shock of feathers and shattered glass in his front seat.

The windshield on his Piper Saratoga had two section, fortunately, and only one was destroyed.

The video shows Weber staying calm, even after noticing he’s bleeding.

Weber told WINK it was a minor cut, and that he mostly feels luck he wasn’t knocked out. He was on a solo flight that day, and if it had knocked him out, that probably would’ve been the end.
