Video: Armed robber cleans out Fla. KFC in 60 seconds

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Cameras were rolling when an armed thief struck a Kentucky Fried Chicken in South Florida -- and left within a minute -- in late December, reports CBS Miami.

On Dec. 22, the robber, who was dressed in total black, made his way into the KFC at the intersection of West Sunrise Boulevard and 31st Street in Broward County. He was out of the door before many customers realized what had happened, according to the station.

In the security footage, the thief is seen sliding across the counter, leaving his backpack behind as he pulls a gun on an employee. When the employee told the thief he couldn't open the register, the armed robber allegedly goes up to the drive-thru window to force the manager to open the register.

"He proceeds to take out all the money and stuffs it into a Jordan backpack -- gun in hand the whole time," a Broward Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells CBS Miami.

The suspect then moves quickly, but methodically -- taking only 60 seconds to hit up the restaurant, according to the station. He then goes outside, where he disappears into the darkness.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Broward County reportedly had 878 armed robberies in 2014 -- which totals to an average of 2.4 robberies a day.

Police are urging anyone with information in the KFC case to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-8477.
