Vandals scrawl hate graffiti at home of New York Giants player

BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. -- Vandals broke into the New Jersey home of a New York Giants fullback Tuesday evening and scrawled hate graffiti on the walls, reports CBS New York.

Nikita Whitlock discovered a broken window at the Moonachie home he shares with his wife and two young children and  graffiti including “KKK,” “Trump” and “Go back to Africa.”

“It just re-establishes that no matter where you are, no matter who you are, this can happen to you,” he said.

The thief also stole jewelry and video game systems but left behind some expensive electronics including laptops, the station reports. Whitlock said the family plans on moving out of the home, a decision made before the break-in.

“It’s about to be 2017,” Whitlock told the station. “Oppression, violence, racism, hatred, violence, there’s no need for that.”

Hate and harassment incidents have spiked in the weeks since the presidential election, according to civil rights group the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Police are investigating.
