Utah high school teacher pleads not guilty to raping student

SALT LAKE CITY - A female high school teacher pleaded not guilty Thursday to raping a 17-year-old student.

High school teacher Brianne Altice, 34, of northern Utah, is accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a student half her age.

Altice previously acknowledge having sex with the teen two times, according to court documents.

The victim's name is being withheld because he's a minor. He said Altice was the first sympathetic teacher he met after moving to Utah.

Altice's husband filed for divorce a month after her arrest in October 2013. She had been working in the Davis School District since 2004 and taught English at Davis High School in Kaysville. After her arrest, a district spokesman said she was put on paid administrative leave.
