U.S. Navy jet crashes in Nevada

CORONADO, Calif.- A U.S. Navy jet crashed during a training flight in Nevada on Saturday afternoon, the Navy said in a statement.

There was no information available about the pilot.

The F/A-18C Hornet, assigned to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center at Naval Air Station in Fallon, Nev., went down at about 3 p.m. The crash occurred on a Navy range training complex that is approximately 70 miles east of the air station.

Navy personnel were on their way to the scene.

"The Navy has not officially confirmed the status of the aircraft crewmember," the statement said.

An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause.
