"Under the Dome" and "Extant" renewed by CBS
CBS is sticking with its sci-fi summer series.
The network has renewed "Under the Dome" for a third season and freshman drama "Extant" for a second, it was announced Thursday.
Both shows are produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and will return in summer 2015.
"We're committed to delivering our viewers and advertisers year-round programming with a wide variety of storytelling," said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. "We continue to see summer as a great place for unique concepts, innovative business models and passionate television audiences."
Next summer, "Under the Dome" and "Extant" will join the previously announced freshman drama "Zoo," based on James Patterson's bestselling novel, and the next edition of the reality series "Big Brother," which has been renewed for 2015 and 2016.
The freshman drama "Reckless" was not so lucky -- it's reportedly been canceled, and there's no word yet on the fate of "Unforgettable."
