Two men nabbed on terror-related charges in Calif.

Two men were arrested in Southern California Thursday evening on terrorism-related charges, the FBI tells CBS News.

A law enforcement source tells CBS News correspondent Jeff Pegues that the suspects are Muhanad Badawi, 24, and Nader Elhuzayel, 24, both of Anaheim, Calif.

The source tells Pegues that the two are friends who planned on meeting up in the Middle East to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Law enforcement sources cited by the Los Angeles Times say neither is accused of planning an attack within the U.S. The sources say several searches in Orange County, California led to the arrests.

Both men were described by two of the newspaper's sources as "homegrown violent extremists" who were heading overseas.

The suspects are slated for their first court appearance in Santa Ana, California Friday afternoon, CBS Los Angeles reports.

One of them was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport and the other in Orange County, the station says.

Members of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force took them into custody, the agency says. The Orange County Sheriff's Department and Anaheim Police Department led the investigation, the Times reports.
