Twin brothers accused of stabbing woman to death

LOS ANGELES - Twin brothers are charged with murder after authorities say they stabbed a woman to death in Los Angeles, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said Keishon Blake and Kenyata Blake, both 18, are each charged with a single count of murder in the stabbing death of Maria Elena Rivas, 62, and two counts of second-degree robbery.

Authorities say the brothers robbed and killed Rivas as she walked home Dec. 22 in Los Angeles near the University of California at Los Angeles campus. Police say the brothers are also suspected in a Jan. 23 robbery.

"These two, although 18 years old, had a criminal record that consisted of robberies and assaults and having these two thugs off the streets right now, people should feel a lot safer," LAPD detective Sal LaBarbera said, according to the station.

Both were being held in lieu of $1 million bond.
