Trailer arrives for Woody Allen's "Irrational Man"

The first trailer for Woody Allen's next film, "Irrational Man," surfaced Wednesday, featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone -- and it's worth a look.

Phoenix portrays Abe Lewis, a psychology professor who, while battling depression and alcoholism, sees his life turn around after he enters into a relationship with one of his students, played by Stone.

"I can't write, I can't breathe, I couldn't remember the reason for living, and when I did, it wasn't convincing," Abe says at one point in this teaser.

"You suffer from despair," Stone's character tells him. "How comforting that would be," he responds.

This isn't Stone's first starring turn in a Woody Allen film. She also appeared in his 2014 romantic comedy, "Magic in the Moonlight," alongside Colin Firth and Marcia Gay Harden.

"Irrational Man," also starring Jamie Blackley and Parker Posey, will debut at the Cannes Film Festival before landing in theaters in July.
