Trader Joe's recalls exploding bottles of Triple Ginger Brew
The grocery store chain Trader Joe's is recalling bottles of its Trader Joe's Triple Ginger Brew due to the risk of bottles bursting.
The Monrovia, California, company said in a press release that all products purchased between November 9, 2015, and December 14, 2015, with the SKU number 51857 are potentially hazardous due to the risk of explosion.
The carbonated, non-alcoholic beverage does not pose a health risk if consumed, an FDA recall notice on the product clarified.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date and bottles have been removed from store shelves and destroyed, the FDA said.
The move to pull the ginger brew is a precautionary action and comes on the heels of customer complaints that the company received of unopened bottles shattering or bursting.
Trader Joe's Triple Ginger Brew was distributed to Trader Joe's stores nationwide and sold in 25.4 FL OZ (750 mL) glass bottles.
The company is offering a full refund to anyone who purchased the beverage at its stores and encouraging customers to handle the product with care and dispose of it immediately in an outside container.
