Tony Awards 2016: Black actors nab all musical acting awards

Take that, Oscars.

Black actors dominated the 2016 Tony Awards on Sunday, taking all four musical acting awards.

Three of those awards were for cast members of "Hamilton": Leslie Odom Jr. took home the trophy for Best Lead Actor in a Musical, and Daveed Diggs and Renee Elise Goldsberry won best featured actors.

Cynthia Erivo won Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her performance in "The Color Purple," which prompted a standing ovation from Oprah Winfrey.

The wins proved James Corden's point when he called the Tonys like "the Oscars, but with diversity." This year's Academy Awards had no actors of color up for an award, sparking controversy, a boycott by Jada Pinkett Smith and the trending hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
