Toddler injured in New Orleans shooting, gunman at large

NEW ORLEANS - Police are looking for a gunman who fired shots in a New Orleans neighborhood, injuring a 2-year-old girl.

Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports an unknown man fired two shots Monday evening, striking the child who police say was playing outside with other children. Two adults were watching the children at the time.

Investigators say a bullet struck the girl in the leg. A neighbor says she appeared to be OK and wasn't crying when her family rushed her to the hospital.

CBS affiliate WWLTV reports police say the girl is recovering and is in "good condition."

Authorities released a photo of a possible suspect in the incident, reports the station. The photo appears to show a bearded black man walking down the street.

Authorities have said they are still investigating who the intended target was in the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooter's identity is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (504)-822-1111.
