New Orleans murder victim was in city to look for wedding venue

NEW ORLEANS - A man who traveled to New Orleans to look for possible wedding venues with his fiancée was found shot to death early Saturday morning, reports CBS affiliate WWL.

Thomas Rolfes, who graduated in 2011 from Tulane University in New Orleans, had gone out to a bar with some friends Friday night, while his fiancée stayed at their hotel, according to police.

Investigators say he was found robbed and shot to death about two miles away from Ms. Mae's bar, where he and his friends spent the night.

It's not clear when Rolfes left his friends, but police said at around 3:30 a.m., he was seen on surveillance video buying some items from at a gas station a few blocks from where his body was discovered.

Rolfes' wallet was gone, according to police. He still had his cell phone on him, but its battery had died.
