Succession battle
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton continues to blast Senate Republicans who say the next president, not President Obama, should appoint a successor to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died over the weekend. In a new barrage of tweets, she calls her GOP rivals' rhetoric "disgraceful."
Bush Brothers
George W. Bush has returned to the campaign trail for the first time since he left the White House, mounting a defense of his legacy and his brother Jeb's campaign after both were targeted by Donald Trump. The ex-president touted his brother as a "steady hand" in a tumultuous world.
Equity politics
Hillary Clinton will call today for new investments in job creation, criminal justice reform and equal pay for women of color as part of a commitment to achieving economic equity for African Americans, CBS News has learned. She will talk about the need to confront what she says is systemic racism in America.
Black jobs matter?
The U.S. labor market has come a long way since the depths of the Great Recession, with the nation's jobless rate at its lowest level in eight years. But jobs didn't sprout equally across states in 2015, and some groups benefited far more than others from the decline in unemployment.
Bad teachers
A USA Today Network investigation uncovered major flaws in the way many states screen teachers and track misconduct. CBS News went to Louisiana to take a closer look at some of the findings, which graded many states' efforts to screen teachers at a D or an F.
Pope's love
A series of very personal letters have revealed Pope John Paul II had a close, decades-long relationship with a woman from his native Poland. The letters, obtained by the BBC, reveal either a story of unrequited love, or of a long, intellectual, friendship -- with an overlay of affection.
