Police shooting

Former South Carolina police officer Michael Slager's dashboard camera lends new insight on what happened before he fatally shot an unarmed black man. Now, Slager's mother has broken her silence. Vicente Arenas reports from outside the Charleston County Detention Center.

"Strong case" for murder?

Ron Hosko is the former head of the FBI's criminal investigative division, who now runs a legal defense fund for police officers. He's watched the video of Walter Scott being fatally shot by now-former South Carolina police officer Michael Slager from beginning to end, and tells Jeff Pegues he's never seen anything like it.

Severe weather

Rescue crews are combing over a shattered section of northern Illinois for survivors after a tornado killed one person and injured at least 11 others. One eyewitness said she'd never seen a twister so big that stayed on the ground so long. Adriana Diaz reports from Fairdale, Illinois, where there is almost nothing left.

Obama and Castro

President Obama and Cuban leader Raul Castro could see each other today at the Summit of the Americas. It could be another big step in breaking down barriers. A poll of the Cuban people out this week shows 97 percent think normalized relations would be good thing. CBS News correspondent Major Garrett, who is traveling with the president, reports from Panama City.

Cuba's view

Few in Cuba doubt that the nation's removal from the U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism list is coming. It's a dishonor the nation has carried for 33 years, and which it shares with only Iran, Sudan, and Syria. Portia Siegelbaum reports there's much anticipation of the profound impact the move could have, particularly on Cuba's struggling economy.

Police beating

The San Bernardino County, California Sheriff's Department is launching a criminal investigation into an incident in which deputies fired tasers at and then beat a man who had been trying to flee on horseback. Francis Pusok was struck more than 50 times, and the sheriff admits what he saw in video of the incident was disturbing. Carter Evans reports.

Dark net

Originally developed by the U.S. military, the "dark net" is a parallel internet accessible only via a browser that masks users' identities by encryption. It's still partly funded by the U.S. government to help dissidents in China, Russia and Iran evade censorship, but Holly Williams reports the layers of security protecting users' anonymity have also made it a haven for pedophiles.

Don't ask

A good 20 percent of hiring managers say they've asked a question in conducting a job interview only to find out later it was illegal to ask. That's among the findings of a nationwide survey of more than 2,100 hiring and human resource managers by CareerBuilder. Some of the questions may surprise you.

Fly happy

When you need to get somewhere quickly, flying is often the best way to do it. And when you need a reliable carrier to get you there, certain airlines around the world stand out from the pack. Some of the biggest names in U.S. aviation don't make the cut.
