"The Simpsons" renewed for two more seasons

Fans of "The Simpsons" can rest assured -- Springfield isn't going anywhere, at least not yet.

Fox has renewed the animated series for two more seasons, which will bring the show to its 28th season and a total of 625 episodes.

The network's announcement even had a "statement" from Homer Simpson himself: "I've outlasted Letterman, Jon Stewart and 'McDreamy,' because I have something they don't: a costly 200-donut-a-day addiction."

"The Simpsons," the longest-running scripted show in television history, premiered in 1990 and has (so far) earned 31 Emmy Awards. It's currently airing its 26th season, averaging 6 million viewers per episode and ranking as one of the top 10 shows on broadcast television among men 18-34.

As Homer would say, "Woo Hoo!"
