"The Mindy Project" canceled, may get second life on Hulu

It looks like "The Mindy Project" won't be returning to television.

Reports say that Fox has scrapped the sitcom starring Mindy Kaling after three seasons. The series, which also stars Chris Messina, has a dedicated fan base -- albeit a smaller one as it's been plagued by sluggish ratings.

As Mindy Lahiri would say, "I'm a little bit disappointed with this conversation."

But there's still hope for "Mindy" fans. Entertainment Weekly reports that the series centered on an OB-GYN office may get a second life on Hulu. There are reported talks happening between the show's producer, Universal Television, and the streaming service.

And Kaling herself seemed to have hinted at more "Mindy Project" to come, Instagramming this video Thursday with a teaser hashtag:

Hey guys, I'm in Montana, is anything happening in LA? #themindyproject
