Texas mom arrested for allegedly killing newborn

ADDISON, Texas -- Police in a Dallas suburb have arrested a woman for allegedly killing her newborn baby girl. Luz Aurora Granados-Reyes, of Addison, was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with capital murder of a child under age 6, according to CBS DFW.

Paramedics were reportedly called to a hotel on Sunday to assist a worker who had given birth in the employee locker room, reports the station. They performed CPR on the baby girl, but were unable to save her life. Police were then made aware of the situation and, after an investigation, arrested the mother, says CBS DFW.

It is not clear how the baby died, or if the 25-year-old woman has any other children, reports the station.

According to the station, Granados-Reyes was first taken to a nearby hospital, but is now behind bars in Dallas County. Her bond is set at $500,000.

Meanwhile, police in Addison are waiting for the results of the newborn's autopsy, and stressed that the investigation is still active.
