Texas elementary school teacher found slain in N.M.

GARLAND, Texas - A Texas elementary school teacher who disappeared over the weekend while visiting her boyfriend in New Mexico has been found dead and authorities have ruled her death a homicide.

The body of Emily Lambert, 30, was found Tuesday on a ranch in Loving, N.M., near a highway, reports CBS DFW.

Lambert, a third grade teacher in Garland, Texas and a mother of two young daughters, was reportedly visiting her new boyfriend in Carlsbad for the weekend when she was reported missing.

She was last seen leaving the Blue Cactus Lounge at the Best Western in Carlsbad around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Her cell phone and wallet were later found at the bar.

CBS affiliate KRQE reports Lambert's boyfriend reported her missing Sunday morning. Lambert's parents reportedly say he told them he was with her at the bar but they got into a fight and he didn't see her after that.

The Carlsbad Police Department has said they have identified a person of interest in Lambert's death but would not release a name, according to CBS DFW.

Lambert's cause of death has not been released.
