Teens plead guilty to planning Tennessee high school attack
ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. -- Authorities say two teens who studied the 1999 Columbine massacre as they planned a similar attack at their East Tennessee high school have entered guilty pleas.
Media cited a statement Thursday from the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office that one teen pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit a terrorist act and possession of explosive components. It said the other pleaded guilty last June.
The boys, then 16 and 17, were charged in 2014 after authorities seized weapons and journals detailing their plans for Volunteer High School in Church Hill. Officials said the boys had studied the Colorado shooting.
The statement said details of the plea agreement are sealed, and both boys will remain under juvenile court jurisdiction until age 18. Their names have not been released.
