Taped, chained dog "left for dead" in Texas creek

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person who taped a dog's mouth shut, chained him up and left him in a south Texas creek.

CBS affiliate KHOU-TV reports that Randy Abke and his wife were driving in far northwest Waller County when they found the dog, who they named Rusty. The animal had been taped and chained to a weight at the bottom of a creek.

"It was left for dead, it was obvious, so I publicized it," Abke told KHOU. "I hope we find out who done it. It's unforgivable to see something like that."

Abke contacted the Waller County Sheriff's Office and the dog, who does not have a microchip, was taken to a veterinarian.

Waller County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest, the station reported.
