Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts reports for jury duty

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts reported for jury duty in Maryland on Wednesday, the Washington Post reports.

Roberts was not selected to serve on the jury, which was hearing a case involving a car crash. But before he was dismissed, he had to answer a couple questions about his relatives. The judge presiding over the selection process refrained from making Roberts announce his occupation in front of all the prospective jurors, the Post reports.

Rather than asking him if he had any experience as a lawyer, the Judge Ronald Rubin said, "Obviously we know what you do for a living, sir."

It's not unheard of for Supreme Court justices and other high-level officials to be called for jury duty. Justice Elena Kagan has been called for jury duty multiple times in the District of Columbia, and even President Obama was summoned for jury duty in Illinois in 2010.
