Sunday: Priebus, Gingrich, Pelosi, Panetta

As President-Elect Donald Trump begins a victory tour around the country and continues rolling out his Cabinet picks, what are we learning about what kind of president he will be? And how can Democrats chart a path out of the minority? We’ll look into it this Sunday on Face the Nation.

We’ll talk with Reince Priebus, the outgoing Republican National Committee chairman who will become chief of staff in Trump’s administration. What do Trump’s hires thus far, and his efforts to negotiate with private companies to keep jobs in the U.S., say about his approach to governing? And what are the incoming administration’s top policy priorities?

We’ll also talk with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who’s been one of Trump’s staunchest defenders but also an occasional critic. Is he worried Trump’s penchant to sensationalize, often on social media, might hinder his ability to enact his agenda?

Turning to the Democrats, we’ll talk with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was just reelected this week to lead the House Democrats, despite some grumbling from some in her caucus about the party’s minority status. Why does Pelosi, who’s held her leadership post since 2003, believe she’s best suited to lead Democrats back into power? And how will she do it?

We’ll also interview former CIA Director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who’s served in nine top positions in the executive and legislative branches, about what to expect from a Trump presidency. Is Panetta encouraged by anything he’s seen thus far? How would he advise the president to deal with his domestic and foreign crises?

As always, we’ll dissect the busy news week with an expert political panel. This Sunday, we’ll hear from NPR’s Audie Cornish, USA Today’s Susan Page, National Review’s Reihan Salam, and the Washington Post’s Dan Balz.

It’s going to be an exciting broadcast, so stay tuned! Check your local listings for airtimes.
