James Comey continued to dominate headlines Friday as Congress received, and the media was subsequently leaked, redacted versions of now-infamous memos authored by the former FBI director, documenting his interactions with President Trump.
Speculation also intensified around Michael Cohen, longtime personal attorney to President Trump, who is being investigated by federal prosecutors. Some in the president's inner circle fear the attorney may cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller's probe.
The president's legal team also saw a new high-profile addition this week, former New York mayor and U.S. attorney Rudy Giuliani.
In federal court, the Democratic National Committee filed suit against the Russian government, WikiLeaks, and the Trump campaign. The complaint claims millions in damages, injury from a "brazen attack" to influence the 2016 presidential election.
On Capitol Hill, the White House has continued to push for the confirmation of CIA Director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state. Stakes are high for the next top U.S. diplomat, who faces an upcoming summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, a mid-May deadline for the Iran nuclear deal, and suspected chemical attacks in Syria. A showdown is expected in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Monday, as Republicans on the committee at this point lack the votes to send Pompeo's nomination to the floor with a favorable recommendation.
And mourners have begun to arrive in Texas for a public viewing today, and an invitation-only funeral Saturday, to remember former first lady Barbara Bush. First Lady Melania Trump plans to attend the service, joining the Clintons and Obamas at the service.

"CBS This Morning" co-anchor John Dickerson (@jdickerson) makes a return to the "Face the Nation" set to discuss his new Atlantic cover story.
