Sunday: Can the GOP and Trump get along?

Trump launched a charm offensive with top Republicans in Washington earlier this week, but stopped short of securing the endorsement which arguably matters most - that of House Speaker and GOP Convention Chair, Paul Ryan. This Sunday on Face the Nation, we'll examine the unique dynamic between the two men set to determine the fate of the Republican Party.

We'll hear from the man responsible for brokering the fragile peace, Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee. How confident is he that the GOP will emerge from this historic primary race united? How equipped will Trump and his party be to take on the democratic nominee in the general?

We'll also have House Republicans Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY), and Rep. Peter King (R-NY) join us for an in-depth look at GOP leaders' reaction to Trump's Washington visit, and for their insights on whether the significant rifts in the party can be bridged before the Cleveland Convention this July.

But first -- we'll sit down with Former Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, for a one-on-one on both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton's preparedness to take on the job of commander in chief and whether he'd serve a 9th president if asked.

Finally, as always, we'll have an expert political panel on hand to break down the busy news week. Sunday we'll get insights from CBS News Political Analyst and Slate Magazine's Jamelle Bouie, Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson, the AP's Julie Pace, and USA Today Washington Bureau Chief, Susan Page.

It's going to be an exciting broadcast, so make sure you tune in! Check your local listings for airtimes.
