Stephen Colbert moves Jon Stewart to tears in heartfelt tribute on "The Daily Show"

Stephen Colbert gave such a heartfelt goodbye on "The Daily Show" on Thursday that he brought Jon Stewart to tears.

Colbert was among the many former correspondents to grace "The Daily Show" stage for Stewart's final show -- but it was Colbert's touching, longer and unscripted tribute that really stood out.

"You can't stop anyone because they don't work for you anymore," Colbert told Stewart, who appeared to be trying to avoid what would likely become an emotional moment. "It will be quick if you just hold still."

Then the future CBS "Late Show" host said, "We owe you because we learned from you, we learned from you, by example, how to have a show with intention, how to work with clarity, how to treat people with respect. You are infuriatingly good at your job, and all of us who were lucky enough to work with you for 16 years are better at our jobs because we got to watch you do yours, and we are better people for having known you."

Throughout Colbert's entire tribute, Stewart appeared to be fighting back tears.
