Stephen Colbert challenges the President to a game of basketball

Stephen Colbert host of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and the show’s bandleader Jon Batiste have challenged President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to a game of basketball. For a special holiday interview for “Face the Nation,” the “Late Show” host told John Dickerson about the two-on-two wager he has placed against the president and vice president.

“I have committed to a charity basketball game against Joe Biden and President Obama.” Colbert said. “And it looks like it’s happening ‘cause Jon and I are in. And that’s half.”

While Colbert stressed the game would be for charity, he has yet to figure out which organization the game will be played for. The Vice- President, who appeared on “The Late Show” early in December agreed to the game, under the condition he can guard Colbert and not Batiste.

“Now we’re just waiting for the leader of the free world. He’s probably got time. He’ll have a lot of time pretty soon.” Colbert joked.

Dickerson asked the comedian if the game could wait until Obama leaves office on January 20th, 2017. While Colbert acknowledged the president could play as “ex- president,” he noted that the odds would change.

“The odds makers are gonna take that into account. If he’s no longer got, you know, the power.” Colbert said. “If he no longer has the nuclear codes, obviously, he’s not gonna be as dangerous in the paint.”
