Stephen Colbert announces first "Late Show" guest

Incoming "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert has announced that George Clooney will be his first guest on the new show.

Colbert tweeted, joking that people should probably let Clooney know.

The "Tomorrowland" star and husband of legal superhero Amal Clooney will visit Colbert Sept. 8. He was one of the last guests to visit when David Letterman was still running the show.

Colbert is inheriting the "Late Show" throne from Letterman in a tumultuous time for late-night TV. He's entering a post-Jon-Stewart worldalongside NBC's Jimmy Fallon and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel.

Nonplussed, Colbert has kept up his usual antics, working on his gonzo marketing campaigns and staying active on YouTube.

"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" starts Sept. 8.
