Stars feud over Kim Kardashian West's naked selfie
Well, happy belated International Women's Day!
The women of Hollywood are very divided about whether or not Kim Kardashian West should have posted a nude selfie on Monday.
It all started when Kardashian West posted a nude photo on Instagram of herself -- with a few black bars for censorship, of course -- and wrote, "When you're like I have nothing to wear LOL."
The photo quickly sparked backlash, from celebrities and regular folks alike.
Bette Midler responded, "If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera," whereas Chloe Grace Moretz took a more even tone, saying, "I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies."
Kardashian West hit back at Midler, Moretz and Piers Morgan on Twitter, and later penned an open letter on her website, saying, "I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world."
Still, the conversation is far from over.
Celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Thorne and more ran to her defense on social media.
But others, like Pink, criticized the reality star. The singer didn't name Kardashian West, but it seemed like an obvious dig: "Shout out to all of the women, across the world, using their brains, their strength, their work ethic, their talent, their 'magic' that they were born with, that only they possess. It may not ever bring you as much 'attention' or bank notes as using your body, your sex, your t**s and a**es, but women like you don't need that kind of 'attention.'"
The plot thickened as Moretz retweeted Pink, and then hit back saying she was never trying to "slut-shame" Kardashian West.
Amber Rose also weighed in on Wednesday, essentially calling Pink a hypocrite, saying, "Pink, We've seen u damn near naked swinging from a rope (Beautifully) but what's the difference between a rope, a pole and a pic on Instagram? Classism."
Meanwhile, Sharon Osbourne and Courtney Stodden showed their support for Kardashian West by posting copycat selfies on Twitter. Say what you will about the TV personality, but she certainly knows how to start a conversation.
