Space photography 101 with "Astro Terry"

Astronaut Terry Virts, known by his Twitter handle @AstroTerry, recently returned to Earth after a 199-day expedition in the International Space Station. The earthbound photos he takes now are ordinary compared to the breathtaking images he shared from space.

His unique images have made him one of social media's must-follow accounts, with more than 200,000 followers. So how does Virts approach photography from outer space? "CBS Evening News" anchor Scott Pelley posed the question in an interview which you can watch in the video above.

When asked which photograph was his favorite, Virts answered: "That's going to be impossible to answer." But he did admit he prefers wide angle pictures over close-ups.

"I really like night pictures because of the aurora and the different colors that you saw," said Virts. "My favorite kind were more the wide angle pictures where you can see the curvature of the earth or the stars or the galaxy. The big picture I like more cause it really shows your place in the heavens and in creation."

South #Florida, #Cuba, #Bahamas. From my view, the most beautiful and colorful waters and reefs in the world.
