South Carolina woman dead after dog attack

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A Spartanburg woman is dead after being attacked by a dog.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger says 25-year-old Porsche Nicole Carter died Saturday evening. Clevenger said Sunday afternoon that Carter died from bites to her head and body. Witnesses said a pit bull attacked Carter.

The coroner said two other family members were hurt. Their names and conditions weren't immediately available.

The coroner said sheriff's deputies are still investigating the incident.

According to CBS affiliate WSPA, Jamie Nelson with the Spartanburg Environmental Enforcement says that dog was put down by Spartanburg Animal Control and will then be tested for rabies on Monday.
