Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb go head-to-head over embryos on morning TV

Morning TV on Thursday hosted dueling exes Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb locked in a dispute over the fate of frozen embryos.

On "Good Morning America," Vergara said it isn't fair that her former fiance has gone public with his lawsuit to gain custody of frozen embryos dating back to their relationship in 2013.

"I've been working very hard for 20 years to get to this point where I am, enjoying my movie," the actress said. "I promote all my movies, all my work, but I don't like promoting my private life and I don't understand why this person...I don't want to allow this person to take more advantage of my career and try to promote himself and get press for this."

Vergara and Loeb split in 2014, and she is now engaged to actor Joe Manganiello. Last week, her ex wrote in an op-ed published in The New York Times that he longs to be a parent and doesn't want the "two lives" they created to "be destroyed or sit in a freezer until the end of time."

On the "Today" show, Loeb spoke of "moral, legal, ethical concepts" concerning lives "we've already created."

A contract they signed states the embryos can be brought to term only with both parties' consent, but the businessman said nothing addresses what would happen if they broke up.

"It has nothing to do with a baby or her baby," the New York businessman added. "Lives were created."

Vergara, promoting her new film "Hot Pursuit," scolded the media for "allowing somebody to invent things and create press for himself."

She said: "He's not an actor. He's not a celebrity."
