6th suspect captured in plot to kidnap N.C. prosecutor's dad

ATLANTA - Authorities say a sixth suspect in the kidnapping of a North Carolina prosecutor's father has been arrested in Atlanta.

FBI spokeswoman Shelley Lynch said in a statement that Quantavious Thompson, who is either 18 or 19 years old, was taken into custody late Wednesday afternoon. Details on his arrest weren't immediately available Thursday.

Frank Janssen was kidnapped April 5 from his home and driven in a rented hatchback to Atlanta, where he was held for five days before his rescue. Authorities have said the kidnapping was retaliation for the prosecution of a high-ranking Bloods street gang member.

CBS affiliate WRAL reported yesterday that the FBI offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Thompson and fellow suspect Jakym Camel Tibbs. A spokesperson told the station Thursday that it was too soon to determine whether the reward factored into Thompson's capture.

Thompson is scheduled to appear in federal court for a detention hearing Friday morning. Five other suspects have been arrested in the case.

Investigators say they're still searching for Tibbs, 20, who's considered armed and dangerous. According to WRAL, the suspect is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs between 155 and 165 pounds. He is from New York, and court records state that he has a criminal record in Georgia.

Those with information on the location of the suspect are asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
