Sixth arrest in Brooklyn McDonald's brawl
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- A sixth teenager has been arrested in a brutal beating of a girl at Brooklyn McDonald's that was caught on camera, reports CBS New York.
A 15-year-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with robbery and gang assault, police told the station. The girl's name was not released because she's a minor.
Five other teens - ages 17, 17, 14, 15 and 16, have also been arrested in connection with the March 9 incident. The 16-year-old, Aniah Ferguson, was arraigned as an adult on robbery, gang assault and other charges.
Investigators said Ferguson was the instigator, allegedly stomping on the victim's head and punching her, reports the station. Prosecutors said Ferguson is a gang member and admitted to beating up the victim, stealing her belongings and throwing them in the trash, reports the station.
They say the beating was in retaliation because Ferguson felt the victim has wronged her friend. She was the first of the group to be arrested on March 12.
Bystanders can be seen in the video watching and recording the fight on their cell phones, but police said none called for help, though workers at the restaurant called 911.
The girls involved all attend nearby Erasmus Hall High School.
The target of the violence, a 15-year-old girl, eventually fell to the floor and curled up beneath a table, but her assailants continued to kick and punch her.
