Shia LaBeouf is hanging out in an elevator at Oxford University for 24 hours
Shia LaBeouf is at it again. The "Transformers" star, as well known for his public meltdowns and arrests as he is for his acting career, has mounted another performance art installation, this time in an elevator in a building at England's Oxford University.
The project, titled "#ELEVATE," features LaBeouf and his regular collaborators, Nastja Rönkkö and Luke Turner, hanging out in a stationary elevator between 9 a.m. GMT Friday and 9 a.m. GMT Saturday, with visitors cramming in to hang out and chat with them for an indeterminate amount of time.
The whole thing is being live-streamed on YouTube, though once visitors go in, all viewers can see are the closed elevator doors. Once the doors close, viewers can listen to the trio and their guests talk about whatever they feel like discussing. In the middle of the stunt, they will take a break to speak at the Oxford Union debating society at 8 p.m GMT.
LaBeouf's previous work with Rönkkö and Turner has involved him sitting in a room at an art gallery in Los Angeles and crying in front of strangers, hanging out in an apartment with a GoPro camera strapped to his head and watching all of his films in a row at New York's Angelika Film Center.
