SEIU endorses Clinton for president

New CBS News poll: Hillary Clinton wins Democratic debate

Days after the CBS News Democratic debate in Iowa last weekend, one of the nation's largest unions on Tuesday, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), announced that it's endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

"Hillary Clinton has proven she will fight, deliver and win for working families," SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry said in a statement. "SEIU members and working families across America are part of a growing movement to build a better future for their families, and Hillary Clinton will support and stand with them.

SEIU has 2 million members, and its announcement comes on top of about six other union endorsements for Clinton, which cover millions of people. Other major unions like the AFL-CIO and International Brotherhood of Teamsters have not yet endorsed a candidate.

In the announcement, SEIU applauded Clinton for voicing her support for a minimum wage increase, for comprehensive immigration reform and support for childcare workers and others.

SEIU also released a roughly 4-minute-long video featuring union members who explained why they are backing Clinton.

"We need a person whose values align with ours...who's going to fight for what we believe in," one woman said.
