Sarah Huckabee Sanders calls Hillary Clinton's new book "sad"
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called Hillary Clinton's newest book "sad" in a White House press briefing Tuesday afternoon.
"I think it's sad that after Hillary Clinton ran one of the most negative campaigns in history, and lost, and the last chapter of her public life is going to be now defined by propping up book sales with false and reckless attacks, and I think that that's a sad way for her to continue," Sanders said.
The former Democratic presidential candidate debuted her book "What Happened" Tuesday and signed copies at a Barnes & Noble book store in New York City for long lines of fans gathered outside.
In the book, Clinton delves into her historic loss and argues that multiple factors were behind November's election upset.
"I couldn't get the job done, and I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life," Clinton wrote in her book.
It is unclear if President Trump plans to read the book, according to Sanders.
"Whether or not he's going to read Hillary Clinton's book, I am not sure, but I would think that he's pretty well-versed on what happened," she told reporters.
During the briefing, several reporters also followed up on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon's recent "60 Minutes" interview, asking Sanders how often he and the president communicate now that Bannon is no longer a part of the Trump administration.
Sanders said that Bannon and Mr. Trump talk "certainly not that frequently." She added that she is only aware of two conversations that have taken place between them since Bannon left the White House and returned to Breitbart, a right-wing news outlet.
