Ryan Reynolds posts photo after dad dies

Ryan Reynolds posted a sweet tribute to his late father on Twitter.

The actor's dad, James C. Reynolds, was battling Parkinson's disease for nearly 20 years, and in his tweet, Ryan asked fans to donate to the Michael J. Fox foundation to help find a cure for the disease.

Ryan posted a throwback photo of his dad holding him as a baby and wrote, "RIP Pops. James C. Reynolds. 1941-2015."

Ryan told the "Today" show in November, "My father really hasn't ever said he has Parkinson's disease. He comes from a pretty prideful generation and he doesn't really talk about it too much. He's maybe said it once or twice out loud," reports People.

Ryan said his father's diagnosis brought the family closer, and he joined the board of directors of the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2008.

His daughter with actress Blake Lively, James, is named after his father.
