Marco Rubio mocks media coverage of his high-heeled boots

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, on Thursday mocked media coverage of his high-heeled boots after they went viral on social media earlier this week.

"So let me get this right," he said in Nashua, New Hampshire. "ISIS is cutting peoples' heads off, setting people on fire in cages, Saudi Arabia and Iran are on the verge of a war, the Chinese are landing airplanes on islands that they've built and say belong to them in what our international waters are, or in some ways territorial waters, our economy is flatlining, the stock market's falling apart -- but boy, are we getting a lot of coverage about a pair of boots!"

The GOP presidential candidate added that he got a "chuckle" out of the coverage.

Talk about Rubio's boots began after a reporter for The New York Times posted a photo of them on Twitter Monday.

The communications director for Sen. Ted Cruz's, R-Texas, presidential campaign then commented Rubio's boots.

Rubio's campaign told Politico that the boots are made by Florsheim, and The New York Times pointed out Thursday that it looks like they cost $135 on the company's website.
