Road rage killer reportedly crossed state lines to get even

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The shooting death of a motorist on a Pennsylvania interstate may have been the result of a vehicle chase that began in Maryland, reports CBS DC. Timothy Davison, 28, of Maine, died of multiple gunshot wounds around 2 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4. He called 911 to report being shot at by the car behind him, but police are revealing little about the shooter.

Pennsylvania State Police Capt. Steven Junkin stated that the assailant is believed to have been driving a dark-colored Ford Ranger XLT pickup truck, and that the vehicle would likely have damage on its front driver’s side.

Junkin also said the suspect apparently followed Davison on Interstate 81 northward for roughly 15 miles, from Interstate 70 in Maryland and into Pennsylvania. After killing Davison, the shooter is thought to have turned around and headed south. There is no evidence that the victim did anything to provoke his attacker.

Given the distance traveled by the suspect in pursuit of Davison, police are unsure whether or not to classify the incident as a case of road rage.

“This actor had murderous intent,” Junkin said. “We obviously have an individual who was so incensed that he continued to pursue Mr. Davison.”

A task force has been assembled to investigate the crime.
