Ricky Martin proposes to boyfriend Jwan Yosef
Livin’ la vida of love! Ricky Martin visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Wednesday, and it was clear he had love on the brain.
The chart-topping singer, 44, revealed that he recently got engaged to his artist-boyfriend, Jwan Yosef. The pair met more than a year ago after Martin had long admired Yosef’s work.
“He’s a conceptual artist and I’m a collector. I started looking for art, and I saw his art and I went crazy because I really love what he does, really original,” Martin explained.
“Then you collected him,” DeGeneres quipped.
The pair officially got together in January and have been inseparable ever since.
“I proposed. I was really nervous,” Martin explained. “I got on my knees, and I took out the little velvet pouch and instead of saying, ‘Would you marry me?’ I said, ‘I got you something!’ Bad.” Despite his accidental faux pas, Martin powered through the proposal.
“I said, ‘I want to spend my life with you,’ and he said, ‘What is the question?’” he recalled laughing. “It was very beautiful and then 30 minutes after, I said, ‘Wait, did you say yes?’”
Martin, who is the dad of 8-year-old twin sons Mateo and Valentino, is also pleased that all the men in his life get along so well.
“They love each other. It’s been perfect. It’s been really special,” he told DeGeneres.
Martin also made an exciting announcement Wednesday regarding his career. “I’m going to be in Vegas,” he told Ellen’s audience of his new gig at the Park Theater at Monte Carlo. “I have a residency in Vegas.”
